A quick text note, before returning you to your daily scheduled pictures.
It would seem this blog has been featured somewhere amidst the Tumblr catacombs. That’s great! I never expected this project I started on a whim while going through my old hard drives and CD-ROMs would be interesting to anyone but me, but (this once) it’s awesome to be wrong.
So first off: I am happy to take submissions! I’m always trying to branch out for image/file sources, but I am one person. The only criteria are that they are date-appropriate (i.e. no original pixel art / teletext / digital artwork of your own, unless you made it in like 1992; I’m not one for strict date cutoffs, but let’s say the mid-‘90s), and that they are in some form I can convert to PNG. Particularly appreciated: images from Mac software (I grew up with PCs; images from CDs/floppy disks you actually, physically possess and that might not be hosted on the Internet; images you have contextual/biographical information on, as artist credit for these tends to have been long since swept away on the digital seas and I am a proponent of crediting artists wherever possible.
Speaking of which, I am also happy to take artist credits and other context for photos if you know them, although please specify which post they are for, as there are a lot and I run several blogs with the same askbox. The askbox is probably the most expedient way to let me know, though (as opposed to reblogs, email, snail mail, telepathy, carrier pigeon or coming up to me in some coffee shop).
Speaking of that, if you want to know more about the lady behind the curtain:
My main blog, where I tend to post things about (browsing through queue) music, music journalism, books, Kate Bush, Claire Clairmont, cats, interactive fiction, pretty/evocative pictures, old presidential campaign memorabilia, more cats and shit I write for places off Tumblr.
The Singles Jukebox, the Tumblr outcropping of the music site I help edit. I’m biased, but I think this is some of the best music writing anywhere right now, online or off.
